Usually this is caused by the brown ceramic trimmer on the tx/audio board.
This trimmer affects the bfo frequency and tends to get flakey. For a cure,
spray some WD40 on it and rotate it rapidly back and forth. After it dries,
follow the manual's instructions for realignment of this trimmer.
