Hi Art:

Go for it! If you want to test it before setting it up (although connecting
it to your Omni is so-o--o-o  easy), put +5 V to the + pin, and ground to
the - pin, and look at the Phase A and Phase B outputs on your
oscilloscope. When you twirl the knob, it'll generate a square wave pulse
train. Be sure it does this for both directions (both phases). If so, it
works. Do what i did and hook it up. Lotsa fun!
