I have an Omni VI with Option 3 and a Titan amp. I'm getting reports
of RF on my SSB signal when I operate my amp on 40 meters. I'm using a
40 meter dipole with a W2DU current balun, the SWR reads 1.2 to 1 at the
frequency I'm using.
I've tried 100, 500, and 1500 watts and get the same signal reports
but the signal is much cleaner with 100 watts (this is on SSB).
I'm using 3 copper ground rods about 10-13 feet from the equipment,
the radio, amp, power supply (for amp), coax switch is all grounded to a
single point, from this point I have two 6 gauge insulated wires ran
outside to a single point where the three ground rods are connected to
the two wires. The ground rods are separated by about 2-3 feet and
are connected only to the 2 wires leading inside not to each other.
I've tried connecting the ground system to the cold water pipe in the
house but the problem persists when the additional ground is connected.
Any ideas would be appreciated, I'd like to get this solved before the
CQWW next week, I'd like to get a few new countries on 40!!
