I commented to this reflector 6 months ago on a loss of sensitivity when
using the 1208 6m xvter with an OMNI V. Further work (comparison with
friends rig) showed this problem was an OMNI V sens. problem on 20 meters
only, thus affecting the xverter. Ultimately, I returned the OMNI V to
Ten-Tec. Their service dept quickly located and fixed an intermittent in
the 20 m band pass filter circuitry.

For minimal cost I received a complete revival and upgrade of this great
xcvr. Those of you with older OMNI V's may want to consider
realignment/refurbishing as an intermediate step to higher performance. As
with any nine-year-old piece of gear, the benefits of realignment and
installation of circuit mods to this early 90's rig were substantial. Most
importantly, the Ten-Tec folks carried out the job professionally,
competently, cheerfully and quickly. Personally, I am much more likely to
buy new gear from Ten Tec because the company takes such excellent care of
its user community.
