I have built five of these receivers so far and one modification greatly reduces
the noise from the display. Use a peice of cardboard and fashion a cover usinc
copper foil tape with conducting adhesive to shield the rear of the display
board.
after the cardboard is cut to shape cover it with the copper tape leaving about
a
half inch of tape at each side to be folded and attached to the sides of the
case. At home I use the TT active antenna kit with a 15 foot coax lead. The
receiver is fun to build and performs surprisingly well for digital reception
also. I have used one to receive the ARL bulletins with a KAM Plus and it works
really well. One trick is to save the center of each band in memory then use
memory tune to get quickly to each band.
