Dear Ten-Tec Folks,
I am the proud new owner of an Omni V purchased from John Winn - N9EMW. I
just wanted to publicly thank John for being a pleasure to do business with.
Sent him the money order on good faith, and he shipped it quickly and
emailed me the waybill numbers. It arrived in the original cartons and
actually looks brand new.
I haven't done any more yet than hooked it up to a length of wire to test
receiving but I am really pleased. I did have to re-seat the filter boards
and wiggle the connectors when I got it to get it working, but it seems to
be working fine now.
I'm planning to put up a bent dipole (maybe this weekend) and probably a Gap
Titan DX eventually.
The Omni V came with the 961 power supply, and 705 mic. It has the 2.4 and
1.8 filters but nothing in the 500 and 250 slots. I have the RS232 interface
but no speech processor, and no FM. I'm thinking it would be nice to add the
two remaining filters and maybe the FM. I'm planning to use it for CW and
SSB phone. Any suggestions?
Also, I have seen a couple of mods around for the Omni V, two of them
dealing with filtering the 2kHz tone to make it cleaner (from the ARRL "1999
Hints and Kinks" book, anybody have any other suggestions for things to
check for or do to it? In fact does anyone have a copy of the mods from that
book that they could fax or mail to me?
I've been enjoying reading the postings here (well most of them...), and
really appreciate access to the collected knowledge here.
