Hi Michael -

I've owned a JW Miller AT2500 for around 15 years and wouldn't get rid =
of it
for anything! Mine is serial# 1152, which is one of the mid-production =
units
as I understand it. This one has been modified to cover 160 meters by =
adding
addition inductance in series with L1 (at the grounded end), plus a 4:1
balun rated at 2KW has been installed internally so I can connect ladder
line to it directly.

I use a 160 meter dipole (or slightly inverted V) at 75' at the center,
maybe 50' at the ends, feed with 450 ohm open wire line, and can tune =
1.8 to
30 Mhz (automatically) with a 1:1 SWR. No TVI at any frequency, either.

About 10 or 12 years ago, we took a lightning hit and there was a good =
bit
of damage to the RF section of the tuner, but none to the control
electronics. I had to replace S11 (the inductor tap selector switch) and =
a
number of capacitors, but they were all readily available components
manufactured by Central, Johnson, etc.

I have been very pleased with the tuner and will use it as long as it =
lasts.
I don't have any information about what happened to JW Miller, or any
specific source for parts, although, many of the components should be
available. Some, like the motors, might be hard to find, should they go =
out.
It was designed and manufactured in the early 80's, so hopefully, it
wouldn't too hard to locate replacements.

Hope this helps.

73, Charlie, K4ZRJ, Woodstock, GA.
