Thanks for the explanations. That makes better sense now.

Sounds like it is probably doing what it should. I've just got so much QRN
most of the time with this temporary antenna setup that I haven't gotten
around to dealing with impulse noise.

I'm hoping to make some progress with my antennas this weekend. Maybe even
get enough improvement to tune in and listen to the user's group on 20m
Sunday.
