Talk nicely to your TenTec ..
I discovered another "fix" for my sticking vacuum relay problem. All I
had to do was throw a heap of money at it. I have not even had to open
the Herc II box ..... yet.
Before I got the hint that swapping the coil leads over was a good
idea, I had spoken with TT and discovered that relay failures are not
unknown. They offered to airmail me one, in return for an arm and leg
(= credit card number). I accepted the offer and only a few days
later the new relay arrived. Great service, as usual.
But since I placed my order something must have told the old relay in
the Herc II that it was at serious risk of being junked. Its not stuck
even once since the date I gave TT my credit card number. In fact, it
seems to be working fine; I've made a LOT of DX QSOs with it.
But as soon as the XYL's kitchen reconstruction gets finished,
(sometime next year at the present rate of progress) I will switch the
coil leads over anyway. And I now have a spare relay ... just in case.
Thanks for all advice on this one.
