You say 1st and 2nd IF filters, so I assume you have an OMNI
V or VI. I would check the PBT and make sure it is somewhere
near the center. Then hit the sidetone to make sure you have
a rough idea of the beat note. Then tune in a signal that
sounds close to that tone. Hit the CW filter. Use the PBT,
not the tuning knob, and look for the signal. This might
give you a feel for the thing.
