Hi all,
I have just gotten on the list and I have just gotten
involved in HF radio. I am really enamored of CW. You
don't have to opporate CW long before you hear about
the Ten-Tec legend among seasoned oporators! Right
now I am using a Heathkit HW-101 which is on loan from
another HAM. But I am really interested in the
Pegasus. I don't know much about the numbers and how
they relate to other machines that are out there. I
would appreciate any interpretation that someone else
could bring on this. How does the Pegasus specs
compare with other rigs such as ICOM 756, Kenwood 570,
Yaesu's (or any of the current YaeComWood rigs).
I am also attracted to Pegasus because I am a
programmer. The only thing I would like to say to
Ten-Tec is to support the Open Source/Free sofware
movements as much as you can. It is probably
important from a marketing point of view to create MS
Windows software but how about sharing the source
code? This would make it a bit easier to port to
other plateforms such as MAC and Linux.
If I get a pegasus, I will try to create some software
for Linux and it will be Free, Open Source. Judging
from the programming guide for the RX-320, Ten-Tec has
done a good job of describing how to program that unit
and I would assume the same quality will be in the
guide for the Pegasus. But why not share the source
code Ten-Tec?
