Or, if you need portability and don't care about synchronous detection, the
Grundig YB-400 can be had for about $179 or so and has won rave reviews from
many reviewers. For example, see:
     http://www.rnw.nl/realradio/yb400.html

I should note at the same time, that the Ten-Tec RX-320 also got an excellent
review from Radio Netherland:
     http://www.rnw.nl/realradio/rx320a.html

So, it depends on how you want to use the radio, what features you are looking
for, and how much $$ you want to spend.

Bill,

There are several links to reviews at the TenTec web
site: http://www.tentec.com. All of them are quite
favorable. I guess the main thing to consider is do
you mind having the radio tied to a computer. I ended
up getting a Sony ICF-SW7600G last year. It is
portable and a little cheaper and also has syncronous
detection circuitry. If I had to do it again, I think
I might go with the TenTec. But if you want
portability, the Sony or a Sangean might be the way to
go.
