Hello, I'm not a Ten-Tec owner, but I hope to be one soon
(maybe after Dayton?). I read this list often, and I've
become curious about the receiver designs in the transceivers
Ten-Tec has produced over the years. What I'd like to know
is whether several models have used the same basic receiver
design, by which I mean that the receivers have the same IF
frequencies and roughly the same RF/IF strip, front end
mixer, and product detector designs. Variations in band
coverage and inclusion of bells and whistles such as IF shift
and DSP I would not consider as separate basic designs.

As best as I can determine, many of Ten-Tec's transceivers
can be grouped into "families" based upon the receiver
designs used. From what I've read on the list, a partial
classification might look like this:

Triton/Omni family:
  Triton I/II/IV (540/544)
  Omni A/D/A-B/D-B/D-C

Corsair/New Omni family:
  Corsair I/II
  Omni V
  Omni VI/VI+

Paragon family:
  Paragon I/II

Pegasus is a unique design.

Should the Corsairs be included with the modern Omnis? Do these
classifications look correct to you?

And what about:
  Powermites
  Century 21/22
  Argonaut 505/509/515
  Delta I/II
  Argosy I/II
  Argo/Scout
  others?

Thanks for any help you can give. I'll post a new classification
if I can put together a clearer picture of the receiver lineages.

73,
Dave NB4J
