Another very simple method that works well is to invert the phase of one ear
piece on your headphones.  This must be done at the speaker terminals by
swapping the "+" and "-" leads.  If you find this to be helpful, a DPDT
switch can oftentimes be installed in the ear piece shell, allowing you to
turn the effect on and off.
