I really can't tell you about all the specifications as I have not
had time to look at it that much. I will say that the 331 and the 340
are different in a lot of ways. Carl has tested the 331 in high
signal areas and seems to think it is great. The physical layout of
the two units are difference and that could make a difference if
there is any. I am real pleased with the human interface of the 340
but sort of liked the mechanical layout of the 331 better. The 320 is
not even close to being the same radio so i don't think there is a
comparison there. I have a watkins-johnson receiver with the
preselector but that is only band preselection so it does not help in
close in signals. The WJ shuts itself down if it sees more than a
watt or so of incoming power to save the front end. the audio quality
and the filter quality of the tt is much better than the WJ. The WJ
was discontinued some time ago so it has not had a software update in
a few years. The 331 is sort of frozen at its present software
because it is under government contract and they buy bunches. I
suspect there may be a 331 update sometime however if requested byt
customers(big ones). The 340 on the other hand continues to evolve
and has some additional features that have never been put in the
331(a few: squelch on on modes.independant sideband on SAM, and other
software updates). I will keep everyone informed.
