There's been much talk on the reflector about the Jupiter
being sensitive to stray RF but have any of you folks had
trouble with the Jupiter generating RF hash?

During this weeks meeting of our local ham club, one member
told of his experiences with a Jupiter he bought at the Dayton
hamfest.

This fellow runs multiple radios at the same time for 2 mtrs,
440, hf, etc. He also has a repeater remote control link in his shack.

He bought the Jupiter with the outboard LDG tuner from Ten-Tec.
Once home he noticed that the pair was generating broad-spectrum hash
that was interfering with his other operations. Part of the hash was
coming from the LDG tuner, but even with that disconnected, the Jupiter
was contributing a large share of the problem. It interfered with his
control link.

He claims that the Jupiter is radiating RF hash over a broad spectrum
directly from its LCD panel. Also, that the Jupiter's weak signal
sensitivity was lower than his other rigs. He stated that repeated
calls to Ten-Tec's service dept didn't help and he finally returned
the rig for a refund. He's extremely disgruntled and feels that Ten-Tec
has released the Jupiter without proper testing. This fellow is extremely
competent technically and I have no reason to doubt him.

Have any others run into this?
Typical experience or did he just get a lemon?

Doug/WA1TUT
