Allan:
All this is from memory of 15 + years ago but here goes.
Among other details, the C-II does have a different RF
mixer circuit than the C-I. I spent some time and money
in "upgrading" my C-I, it was educational and fun at the
time, but IMO did not do anything to improve performance.
I doubt seriously if there is any difference at all in basic
Rx performance between the two radios. The original
Corsair is an excellent performer, even by today's standards.

A simple and effective improvement might be the replacement
of the IF filters with INRAD filters. I have not yet tried this,
but may do so in the future. My Corsair is still one of the
back up radios in the shack.

By the way, the original Corsair WILL auto bandswitch with
the Hercules II amp through the band connector on the rear
panel. A simple mod will have to be performed to the radio
for the TXOUT, TXEN circuit. TT can furnish the details or
e-mail me for info. The C-II does not have the band
connector to interface with the Herc amps.

Good luck with the Corsair!
