I've just gone through this imperfect exercise considering the amps
mentioned. I also am an OMNI-6+ user which will become my third rig once
the Orion is out because my second rig before that will be the 516 I am
going to run mobile with some kind of brick. That said, I passed on a used
Titan II because of the 4CX1600B supply, and the cost of the amp in
question. My frugal contesting friends keep buying used AL-1500's and
AL-1200's and working the heck out of them. Boy they are UGLY amps, but
generally reliable, cost-effective, and often available used. In fact, the
guys I know, with one exception, who have "fancy" amps spend more time
dusting them than driving them. So, I'm looking for a used AL-1200 - I want
the instant on and I don't care if I am 0.25 S-units down to an 8877.
