[TenTec] 6 meter 1208 transverter 10/6 help needed

On the 1209 that I built from a kit, the second gate bypass capacitor
for the RF stage needed soldering on the component side of the board to
get a good ground connection. Without that the double gate MOSFET would
have oscillated strongly.

You can find the oscillating stage. Probe with your finger, when close
to the oscillating stage it will change the tuning.
