Consider the Ten Tec Paragon. It shares much of the same circuitry as the
Omni, the crystal filters are common, (6 MHz I think). These can be found at
a reasonable price, and though don't have the same number of bells and
whistles as the 756 or TS-850, do have general coverage receive.
I used my Paragon in the contest this past weekend on 10 meters for a few
hours. Was operating Hunt and Pounce until the pile-up found me. Had fun.
