Al, as one who has built a number of QRP radios (including the NorCal 38
Special, Small Wonders DSW-40, 20, 80 and Rock-Mite 40, an MFJ Cub (17
meters), a 75 meter SSB xcvr by a VE7--- (sorry, his name escapes me at the
moment) and a Ten-Tec 1330, I can say this: the Ten-Tec series is solidly
built and works well. As a matter of fact, it weighs in at *pounds* (and no
batteries!) while the others weigh just mere ounces. TT 13-- series is
meant only for the occasional, limited distance backpacker; many of the
others, especially the DSW series (no longer available, but look for a DSW
II soon!) are small, light and amazingly full featured. Of course, the TT
series is about $100 and includes the case; the DSW series was $135 with a
case. K1SWL is as dedicated a supporter of his stuff as Ten-Tec is, though,
so you won't go wrong.

Good luck!

73,

Joe, W2RBA
