Good Morning Scott,

Thank you very much for this useful information. It will be useful to me
because I am in the midst of trading for a Paragon and am attempting to
purchase an Omni VI+ in the next couple of weeks.

Best 73s,

Mark

Mark-I have a very early Paragon (S/N 0024X) and a late one (S/N 102XX).
The main difference between the two is on the LPF board. The early
Paragon
used reed relays to select the LPF, this was a very expensive way to
switch
filters! They later switched to a really cheap frame-type relay, which
they
kept into the Paragon II. The traces for the LPF are completely
different
between the two because of this change. They also added a mod to the
PBT
board on the later Paragon to minimize the amount of hiss in the RX
audio,
especially on quiet bands (this was a problem on the Omni V as well).
The
older Paragon doesn't have this mod, but it doesnn't need it as much,
because it seems quieter stock than the modified later Paragon. I
believe
the rest of the radio is the same. BTW, my Paragon II has a S/N in the
103XX range.

Hi,

Does anyone know the serial numbers for the Paragon transceivers. I
would like to know what the serial number for the first production and
very last Paragons were. By knowing this information, I can know what
constitutes an early one versus a later one.

Thanks for the help,

Mark,

Hi All

I acquired a very low serial number Paragon some weeks ago. It came
with a
built in 130 Hz frequency offset between receive and transmit mode which
only occurred on USB. Factory service tried hard to give me some hints,
but was only able to suggest a firmware upgrade which had no effect. I
did
find the problem ....... the hard way. Apparently this problem was
built
into many early Paragons, but was cured in later ones.

Last month K8GVK asked if there were cataloged modifications to the
Paragon, and got a response listing a site with non-Ten-tec mods. Is
there
any place where the factory modifications which were implemented during
the
manufacturing life of the Paragon are cataloged? I asked this question
of
the Ten-tec service department: they replied that no such list existed.

My Paragon has some minor remaining problems which I would like to clean
up
this year. Can anyone help please?
