As several others have reported lately, I too have very publicly
smeared you know what all over my face by inadvertently sending out to
the list an email that was intended solely for the eyes of the person
addressed in the text. I was unaware that the reply button function
evidently had been changed and simply failed to confirm the addressee
before sending.
While I do not apologize for holding the thoughts and opinions that I
expressed in that email, I do apologize to the Ten Tec company and
management and to the subscribers to this reflector for making public
statements that are, in fact, largely personal opinion and not fact.
Bob asked for comments and implied that he would welcome candid
comments. I responded in kind. Those comments were intended for his
eyes only and were worded accordingly.
Since it is clear from my comments that I hold reservations as to the
potential of the ORION and its impact upon the company, I want to try
to make clear that I wish Ten Tec and the crew there nothing but
success in bringing forth the ORION. As I expressed, they are fighting
a tough battle against time and circumstances. I certainly have
nothing to gain by seeing either Ten Tec or the ORION fail to meet
their objectives.
I especially apologize to Doug Smith whom I mentioned by name and for
whom I have nothing but the greatest professional respect. I suspect
that his contributions to the ORION project have been primary and will
account for its ultimate success. And by extension to Scott Robbins in
his marketing role for the ORION and other Ten Tec amateur products.
So, gang, the REPLY button got to me and I won't be the last I am
sure. I was unaware that the reply logic had been changed. Trust me, I
would never have embarrassed myself intentionally by posting such a
candid and outspoken email to the general list membership.
I have not yet read the dozen or so emails carrying the subject line
"RE: Public Opinion" but I expect that I have been thoroughly raked
over the coals. Accordingly think that it is appropriate that I do
penance and content myself with just reading the reflector postings
and cease any further participation in the discussions.
Folks, I can't think of any more ways to say "I'm sorry!" for posting
a private message to the list. I did read one note that revealed to me
the magnitude of my sin which offered sage advice: "Chill out,
George!"
And so, I will . . .
73/72, George
