There are quite a few hams that have very little knowledge of electronics,
in the area I live there are several persons with Extra license that could
not answer that question either.
Qrp is usually defined as 5 watts CW or less from your transmitter, it
doesn't imply that the radio as a whole consumes low power, The Omni is
used for QRP just the way it is, so there are no modifications to be made
to the Omni, what you need is a RF watt meter to measure the output power
of the transmitter with the key down, then you turn the drive control down
until it outputs 5 watts or less.
If what your trying to do is to get your radio to consume less that 5 watt,
the answer is that it is not possible for that design, if you need a radio
that consumes very little power for use with batteries, you need to buy or
build one that is designed for that purpose.
There are many fine QRP radios and kits available for not too much money,
and we can get on that subject if you need more information..
