I used a cheap mechanical unit... lessee... GH3071ND a 36 position PC
mount ... $4.70 each... totally mechanical variety. I could've gotten a
more expensive optical device, but it shouldn'tve made any difference for
prototyping a 301 knockoff. Here's a scratch-drawing of the interface...
