Hi,
I've recently bought an OMNI D and was wondering if there are any mods to
reduce the hand capacitance effects on the VFO?

My thoughts were:

1) extend the tuning knob with a lightweight plastic collar.

2) somehow reduce the metal components near the knob.

1)
as the tuning shaft and its associated mechanics are so delicate I decided that
extending the tuning control would impose excessive bending on the metal shaft.

2)
I have removed the metal skirt marked for kHz which has helped quite a bit. I
am sure this is a standard measure as the hand capacitance via that metal disk
must be the major contributor.

Any thoughts re reducing the hand capacitance still further, and indeed any
other mods to do with the tuning arrangement would be most gratefully received.
