I haven't actually timed to see how long my Orion takes to come alive but I
am guessing it takes about 30 seconds. It's certainly not real quick. Your
idea about a small battery sounds like a good one to me. Just don't ever
get that battery backwards. Years ago I was using a tentec 12 volt supply
as a battery charger. I got it backwards to the supply one time and blew
just about every piece of the electronics inside the supply. It took me
weeks to diagnose and fix everything that was broken in the supply.
