For what it's worth...
I've kept the original "Independant Hallicrafters" list (which was on
eGroups prior to the Yahoo takeover) in inactive mode ever since the
majority of the group decided to move over the the "ad free" list sponsored
by the City of Tempe AZ. It doesn't cost anything, if needed I can
reactivate it at will, and the archives (such as they are) remain intact.
(and yes, it also keeps the group name out of someone else's clutches, but
THAT, as they say, is another story)
So there should be no need to eliminate the Orion group on Yahoo just
because it's served it's immediate purpose. After all, you never know...
