I had a problem with this as well but it turned out to be one of the two 
cables I used to give me the length I needed.  When I removed the short 
serial cable extension all went well.  I'll have to pick up a longer 
DB9-DB9 cable next week and after doing another reload to the Jupiter to 
prove that it's working, mark it for future use.

I have WinXP Home running as normal (no emulation) from a DELL 8200.
