Miscellaneous comments: <<<Why not Rob? Since you work in software, you should know it is also very simple to reload an earlier version if there is a problem. I've had my Orion since August 21 which came with version 1.356. I've downloaded every subsequent revision (now 1.366) and have never needed to reload an earlier version. I wish I could say the same for CT (contest software), where I do run several versions behind. I could see your point if the reload was extremely complex or time-consuming, but Orion updates are very simple and take on the order of 10 minutes total, so it is really not a big deal. Where's the beef?>>> The beef is that if you go back through the archives, you will find that in every single case or nearly every single case, when there has been a release of new software for the Orion, the release was followed by a flurry of emails on this reflector from people with problems with the revision. Anyone can go back and see this; it is a fact. I believe with the last one, there were a few people reporting poor tx audio problems whereas with the previous version they reported tx audio was okay. In view of what's been happening, I personally would not be in a rush to load a new version but I may be less inclined to experiment. I admit I failed to realize firmware is probably a much smaller file compared to a new database suite of programs. Other comment: I intend to purchase an Orion when TT gets their act together with respect to the firmware. T-T has produced a radio with excellent firmware which appears to be clean and as bug-free as any radio out there. You're reading old posts, or reading too much into the current ones. You're assessment is not valid. I find this, in the face of a body of messages from people with all sorts of software related problems, some posted during the past few weeks, amazing. Clean? Bug-free? Have I just gone through a worm hole and arrived in another universe? This is like listening to the Iraq press secretary during the invasion.
