For the sake of completeness, it should be stressed that pushing any RF current into the soil should be avoided as much as possible. That would be a pure waste of energy on transmission, and a source of all kinds of noise on reception. If there is no RF current flowing into ground, then the ratio between the connection length and lambda has no significance.
