The problem you described is very annoying if PLL overshoots.  The ears
easily detect about 1 Hz tone difference.
IC-745 was prone to that, IC-735 uses audio blanking in-between, IC-756 PRO
II too much of DSP blanking.
We noticed that after losing several CW dots and dashes at K1B pile-up if we
touched main VFO instead of RIT.
