running full wave 80 m vertcal plane loop here 30' feed and one vertical side of loop about 15' from rig fed in center of 33' vertical section loop is 33' x 102' rectangle with bottom wire avg 20' above ground kicks butt on 40/80 CW and not too shabby on 30 20m is OK but not nearly as good as 6 x 1/2 wave phased for near field, intensity falls off as wavelength cubed no problem here with RF in shack on 80-20 even with 600W output no balun so, it might not need much moving, if that's the problem -bob Stuart Rohre wrote: Paul, with a loop 5 feet from the shack window, you likely will have RF in the shack no matter what balun you try. There is a 3 dimensional torus of radiation around the loop wire, and at the bands of HF, you are well within the near field in your shack. -Stuart Rohre K5KVH
