The geography references are off; Nashville area is NOT Appalachia in the
sense it was meant!
And Appalachia has come a long way from the days it first hit the news.

Designers come and go from companies every day and they go on.  One man is
not the company, after as many years as Ten Tec has been around.  Ham radio
is but one of the lines at TT; military and things such as the hardware and
molding are what really pay the bills.

Most radios today are group efforts; the only one man operations left are
the little QRP rig kit companies, and even Elecraft had two designers at the
start.

So, let's go to more interesting technical points, OK?
