I've been following the 7800 on the Yahoo group. This "recall" or
whatever it is apparently only affects the early radios shipped to JA
and Europe. No info on what the problem is/was -- but since Icom
needs the radios back it must either be a real circuit update or Icom
can only update firmware at a service facility at this point.
No one seems to know definitively quite how a firmware update is
going to be done by the user yet. The manual is moot on the
subject.
I did finally have a chance to get up close and personal with one at
Dallas Ham-Com today. Nice radio, no question.
There are a few lone soles beginning to report some issues with it
as well. Apparently it isn't sheer perfection either :-)
