I guess I should have changed the subject line..... I wonder if the original Herc running on 48 V has better IMD, more output, or anything else good about it to offset the fact that you can't run it on 12 VDC?

power supplies but obviously you could run the Herc II on an 80 amp 12 vdc

The fan on the Herc sounded like an F115 while the fan on the Herc II was
almost silent. HercII is very nice piece of gear.
