| Al,
I think you have the idea PTT means it always has to be "tape down the mic
button for a geezer type monologue." While I operate phone with PTT, I make
a habit of switching back to receive frequently, that is, whenever I pause
for a few seconds or longer. It's important to not let the switch be
somewhere inconvenient like on the mic stand at arm's length. You really
need either a hand-held or headset mic or a mic on a boom with a hand or
foot switch. In doing this I hear people breaking the roundtable or I hear
my buddies talking to each other during my transmission, a clear sign I've
gone too long! it's a delight to catch them when they think I'm not
listening but I usually shut up also.
