We'll I'm a 40 something, and it sure appeals to me.
I'm getting so tired and bored with the endless stream
of unimaginative radios from all of players in the ham
gear marketplace. You know, the endless drive to cram
more and more stuff into a single box and then try to
figure out how to work with it. Usually attempted by
adding more buttons, knobs and menus that many have
come to despise. And no matter how they create and
arrange those controls they are still a compromise for
everyone.

I'd rather see more simpler functional building blocks
that can be put together as I see fit to meet my
operating requirements. The Pegasus is a respectable
radio for doing just that without having to break the
bank to do so (it's pretty much the only one available
today to do so as well). Throw in a little bit of
creative software setup and configuration of Carl's
software driving multiple radios and away you go. It's
all working pretty slick with no hassles, now there's
no going back to a "traditional" radio for me for when
I really want to operate effectively.

But I'm now ready for a more capable, but still
economical RF I/O platform beyond the Pegasus. So I
really do hope that there is a panel-less design in
the works to succeed the Pegasus. I beleive that the
panel-less radio concept has a bright future indeed, -
as long as there is software to drive them. If there
is no software it will continue to languish, just look
at the marketing success of the Kachina 505 vs. the
Pegasus. There is a day and night difference between
them which is mostly due to 3rd party software being
available for the Pegasus but not the Kachina.
