You won't get flamed (well, at least not by me). We all make choices for
many reasons. I don't subscribe to the "my radio is my religion" train of
thought. Never owned a Yaesu, and have no desire to. Now, I admit I would
like to have an ICOM 7800 as a passable backup radio to the Orion. It's
always good to have something that will drive a 42" color display to really
impress visitors and give them something to gawk at. They might not
understand all the technical stuff anyway, but if you show them something
that looks like a video game .. well .. then you've GOT something :-)
On the other hand ...

It's a sad state when your RF environment is so sloppy that you have a
problem. And for some Heil thingy? (It does seem to be what all the fuss
is about ... the survival-like drive to destroy the Orion's great audio by
pluggin an HC-4 into it). But then I know "photographers" who keep changing
cameras because they figure it will compensate for poor technique :-)
Throwing the baby out with the bathwater. Somedays you just gotta wonder ..
(Just kidding about the Icom thing, a second Orion would be a better backup)
