Hi Martin,

thank you for your comments.
I hope in the future this problem can be corrected.
I have informed TT and I'm waiting for an answer.
These variations on rf output power - this is my idea - give a suggestion
of instability.

OK, Frank, nice job with the video -- it gives my DSL
connection a workout.

My opinion:

The Orion power meter shows the same kind of
fluctuation that I see on my unit. So that much is
probably "normal".

The DC current meter shows similar fluctuations, which
indicates that 1 or 2 Amps x 12 volts = 12-24 watts of
input power fluctuation is going _somewhere_.

This is probably nothing to worry about, because a
change of 2 watts out of 50 is still only 0.2 dB, 1/30
of an S unit. The question is whether this is a
normal "feature" of the Orion. I think it could be.

See <http://www.doug-smith.net/digitalagc.htm>
http://www.doug-smith.net/digitalagc.htm for some
technical description of the TGC system. TT does not
specify the Tx output stability, so it's likely you
are actually measuring the normal fluctuations in the
TGC system. A few times 0.1 dB is not so bad -- you'd
never be able to measure it over a normal radio
circuit. It is inelegant, however!
