Give it a hard reset and see what happens.

Can someone help me please?

I got a new Orion a week ago and I am still learning to use it. I previously owned an Omni 6+ which had a very satisfactory receiver and with the NR on and rf gain at about 60-70% I could enjoy nearly noise free reception.
The Orion on the other hand has a lot of background noise on most any band and I cannot seem to get rid of the noise. I have tired different rf gain settings, tried several of the programmable agc settings, several different filter settings but nothing helps. The noise sounds like steam escaping under pressure and the nr and nb only changes the tone of the noise. Even with the rf gain at 1 and the preamp off there is still a lot of noise. The s meter is not effected by the rf gain settings either. on 75m the S meter reads about 9 s units or more when no one is talking. I can copy ssb signals on 75 meters better on my 1960's Hammarlund HQ 180.
