After reading a reply of my December 24th, 2004 post to the reflector that
someone revisited yesterday, I still think what I posted was good advice for
prospective buyers of the Orion to listen to guys who are happy with their
Orion as well as those who are not.
On balance, the Orion is getting better as time goes by and I enjoy operating
mine everyday.
With the new RF gain noone has to be continually be messing with the AGC
settings as someone else referred to in reference to a pinball machine, nor do
I have to be continually playing with my mike cord or my RIT to get it to work.
These referencces to the Orion are not accurate and fair in my opinion.
However, there are still some issues to be fixed and the engineering staff is
working hard to do just that. There is still a three week waiting time to get
an Orion shipped if you Order one today, which indicates that the Orion is a
very popular rig, despite the attempts of a few to malign the rig as much as
they can on this reflector.
