Regarding placement of selectivity, your suggestion of replacing Y2 is 
intriguing, although one would have to be very careful of the low end rolloff 
in this filter. (George at INRAD has already found that the 2.4KHz filter there 
causes some attenuation for low CW pitches.)  

 I think my main problem is one of being able to turn the roofer on and off 
independently of the NAR filter, and that is only because I have the Omni VI 
and not the VI+.  I'll probably set mine up to use one of the following buttons 
to control the roofing filter: ATTN, Voice, or FM.
