WD 40 is not a lube. It is "Water Displacement fluid formula 40."

It will collect dust if used as a lube.

Better to use Triflow, a true lubricant with microscopic ball bearings
therein to loosen a tight PTO drive. Preheating the bearing, may allow the
oil to be sucked in better as the bearing cools.

However, use of alcohol to loosen the old gunk then using Triflow may be all
that is needed.

Complete tear down lubrication is best with the greases such as Dow 44, a
high temperature ball bearing grease. The original petroleum grease is the
reason PTO's seize up over time. 44 will never harden up on you.
