I used to hear reports of the capacitor separating in the center. That capacitor was maybe a "doorknob", a round thing with screw holes in each end. One would wind up with two pieces, each with one screw hole in it. 73, Mike N4NT ----- Original Message ----- From: "Stuart Rohre" <rohre@arlut.utexas.edu> To: "Discussion of Ten-Tec Equipment" <tentec@contesting.com> Sent: Thursday, June 30, 2005 8:57 PM Subject: Re: [TenTec] Ten Tec and Butternut HF6V Problem And Question I think the Butternut caps problem was internal construction and you could not tell from outside, except to electrically test the tuned circuit for trap action. You should be able to verify the tuning with antenna analyzer or GDO. GL, Stuart K5KVH |
