Anyone living in or near, or traveling through the Houston area, may be
interested in attending Scott Robbins, W4PA?s, presentation to the Texas DX
Society, scheduled for July 26.
TDXS July 26 (Tue) Meeting Announcement
The speaker will be Scott Robbins, W4PA. His talk will be on software
defined radio technology and the Orion transceiver. How the Orion uses the
best of analog technology combined with IF-DSP to bring the very best
receiver performance available to amateur radio.
Scott is an active radio contester ? he has a 4 tower contest station at his
home in Tennessee. Scott won CQ WW CW single op high power all band in
2003, ARRL DX CW in 2002 and 2004 and hold the single op, high power, all
band record for ARRL DX CW. He is a member of the Caribbean Contesting
Consortium and regularly operates from the club station on Curacao, PJ2T.
Scott has been employed by Ten-Tec since 1995, currently as the
Product Manager for amateur radio equipment in charge of managing sales and
marketing for Ten-Tec's amateur division.
This will be a dinner meeting and the cost will be $20.00 per person.
TDXS must commit to a specific number of attendees 2 business days before
the meeting; H.E.S.S. will charge us based on this number.
The dinner menu includes Herb Roasted Chicken, with macaroni & cheese,
vegetables, desert, and tea or coffee. Vegetable Lasagna will be available
as a substitute, but you must let me know when you make reservations.
Stronger beverages will be available, but will cost extra.
To further entice you there will be several interesting door prizes
including a digital multimeter. You must be present to win!
