Not so fast with your speculation about parts availability.

The guys who manufacture and sell the parts are not dumb.
They all run "End of life strategies" and this includes milking the base one
last time. Before the kill something, they take last orders (kinda like in
England when the bell rings in the pub and the bartender yells out last
orders and everybody orders 2 or 3 pints). Vendors have plenty of chance
for stocking up on enough spares to keep the kettle boiling for several
years.

So please don't start false rumors.

Why do you think that bringing out O2 is not doing what's best for the
customer? What should they have done differently? And don't say "go to
sleep for 3 years so that their customers can keep higher value in their
existing O1's". If they did that, there would soon be no Ten-Tec and then
we would lose all the other benefits we have from that company.

My 1 cent worth.

Think we should go for an Orion III by next week.
That way the Orion will be that much cheeper and I can buy one.
I do think Ten Tec set a record on going from the Orion to the Orion II.
They could have waited a few more days.
Look how long the old Icom Pro held on.
I think a lot of the speed had to do with 3rd party chips.
Could be the CPU is out of production and can't be replaced.
Since the radios are so new it would be hard to explain why a main part is
no longer available for replacement.
Could hurt the used market if that is the case.
Ten Tec could be trying to do what is best for the customer.
I bet you will hear of a trade in program from Ten Tec real soon on the
Orion.
They have always been good about that and I am sure they would not want a
rig that can't be fixed on the used market to damage the company.
