The knife switches I have seen at Home center stores were plated brass, thus 
no rusting.  My old one is just that, plated probably with cadmium over 
brass.

I would avoid any non brass ones or put them in a weather protected box 
cover.  Be sure to allow condensation to drain out of any enclosure!
