He is using it for 160. His feedline is set up for 450 ohms (#4 aluminum wire on 5" centers) with 9:1 transformers. It would work as well on higher freqs. I did the calcs for 28mhz and the loss for 1000ft is about 0.6dB for a flat load. Pretty impressive to say the least. You could buy the transformers from DX engineering if you didn't want to build them, the real key is to design the line impdedance to match the transformer ratio. His measured loss is 0.3 dB at 1.8mhz for the 1000ft run including transformers. 73 W9OY |
