You may have experienced RF in your shack over the years. A microphone can
burn your face or a key your fingers. This trouble usually depends on the
band in use -- I might have high levels of RF in my shack on 80 meters and
almost none on 40 meters.

The instant problem might be caused by high levels of RF entering the jumper
which goes from the rig to the amplifier. That RF might be, and probably
would be different in levels from band to band because of there being
different antennas and feedlines (or different reactances on a common
antenna and feedline) depending on the frequency band in use.

<<<No, I do not believe that the problem's occuring on only one band rules
out
loose cable fittings.>>>

Hi Mike,
Please explain how this can be--I'm not getting it. It seems to me that a
loose feed connection would be a general problem not tied to one band, but I
base that on intuition. If you have a technical reason for it being tied to
one band I'd sure like to know what it is.
